Privacy Policy

How we handle your data — with respect and transparency.

Effective date: 1 March 2026

Overview

EuropeanStack is committed to protecting your privacy. As a European software directory, we hold ourselves to the same high standards of data protection that we evaluate in the products we review. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

Analytics

We use two analytics services:

  • Plausible Analytics. Our primary analytics tool is Plausible, a privacy-focused, EU-hosted analytics service. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individual users across sites. All data is aggregated and anonymous. Plausible is fully GDPR-compliant without requiring cookie consent.
  • Google Analytics. We also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand traffic patterns and user behaviour in aggregate. Google Analytics may use cookies and collects anonymised usage data. Google processes this data in accordance with its data processing terms.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. This is used solely to send you updates about European software, new product listings, and directory news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. We do not sell, share, or rent email addresses to third parties.

Affiliate Link Clicks

When you click an affiliate link (URLs containing /go/), you are redirected to the product website. The product vendor may set cookies for attribution purposes. This is governed by the respective vendor's privacy policy, not ours.

Cookies

Our use of cookies is minimal:

  • Plausible Analytics does not set any cookies.
  • Google Analytics may set cookies to distinguish users and sessions. These are first-party cookies used solely for analytics purposes.
  • Theme preference. We store your light/dark mode preference in local storage (not a cookie) to remember your display preference.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any form of cross-site tracking.

Data We Do Not Collect

To be explicit about what we do not do:

  • We do not sell personal data to third parties.
  • We do not build user profiles for advertising purposes.
  • We do not use retargeting or behavioural advertising.
  • We do not collect sensitive personal data (health, financial, biometric, etc.).

Data Retention

  • Analytics data is retained according to each provider's retention policy. Plausible retains aggregated data indefinitely (no personal data is stored). Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months.
  • Email addresses are retained for as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter. Upon unsubscribing, your email is deleted from our mailing list within 30 days.

Your Rights Under GDPR

As a data subject under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access. You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification. You can request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to erasure. You can request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Right to data portability. You can request your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object. You can object to data processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to restrict processing. You can request that we limit how we use your data.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@europeanstack.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days as required by GDPR.

Data Processing Location

Our website is hosted on Railway (EU-available infrastructure). Plausible Analytics processes data exclusively within the EU. Google Analytics data may be processed in Google data centres, subject to Google's data processing terms and applicable data transfer safeguards.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be noted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
