French B2B email finder that generates and verifies contacts in real time instead of selling a database
Review by EuropeanStack EditorialUpdated Verified
Dropcontact does one job and does it with an unusually clear privacy story: no stored database, EU-hosted processing, and a 2019 CNIL inspection that Dropcontact says ended without sanction. Its weaknesses are plain. The scope is narrow, low-volume pricing is steep per credit, the best features sit in the Growth tier, and the accuracy claims come from the vendor. Buy it as an enrichment layer behind your own prospect list, and run the 50 free credits on a real sample before you commit.
Dropcontact is a B2B email finder and contact-enrichment service run by DROPCONTACT SAS from Aulnay-sous-Bois, France. It says it generates and verifies business emails in real time with its own algorithms rather than selling a stored contact database, and it can enrich CRM records, CSV files, and API calls. France's data protection authority, the CNIL, inspected the company in 2019.

Dropcontact is a French B2B email finder and contact-enrichment service that generates and verifies business emails in real time instead of selling access to a stored database. Most buyers assume the opposite logic: a bigger database must mean better data. Dropcontact's whole proposition challenges that assumption.
The company behind it is DROPCONTACT SAS, registered in Aulnay-sous-Bois, north-east of Paris, and created in November 2016. It is run by founder and president Denis Cohen. French company register filings show 2024 revenue of about โฌ2.58 million and a small net profit of about โฌ22,700, and the national statistics office places the headcount in the 10-19 band. We could not find a primary source for any outside funding, so this review makes no claim about how the company is financed.
The product is narrow by design. You give it a first name, last name, and company or domain, and it returns a verified business email. Alternatively, drop in a CSV, connect HubSpot or Pipedrive, or call the API. Dropcontact states that it keeps no contact database and that results are produced dynamically, a claim we attribute to the vendor because we cannot audit its systems.
That focus makes it a poor fit for teams who want a searchable prospect list or outreach sequences. It suits teams that already know who they want to reach and need deliverable addresses with a defensible privacy story. For the broader category, see our sales engagement software listings.
Dropcontact's core claim is algorithmic. From three inputs it builds candidate addresses, tests them against mail servers with its own verification technology, and returns only addresses it judges valid. Dropcontact's homepage says validity reaches 99% for named emails and 97% for catch-all domains.
Treat those figures as marketing. Dropcontact also publishes an Email Finder benchmark on 20,000 contacts that ranks it above waterfall tools, but the company wrote and ran it. Independent reviewers on Capterra give the product 4.7 out of 5 across 23 reviews, which is encouraging without being a controlled test.
Catch-all domains accept every address, so basic checks cannot tell a real mailbox from a made-up one. Dropcontact includes what it calls advanced catch-all verification on every plan. That matters for outbound teams because bounces on catch-all domains are a common source of sender-reputation damage.
Dropcontact enriches records inside HubSpot and Pipedrive, and its pricing page lists a Salesforce integration, although the homepage still describes Salesforce as coming soon. We could not reconcile the two, so check before you buy if Salesforce is your CRM. The CRM enrichment subscription is a separate plan from the Email Finder subscription, and credits from one cannot be spent on the other.
Beyond CRMs, the service accepts CSV, XLS, and TXT files, offers a Google Sheets add-on, exposes an API and MCP server, and connects to Zapier, Make, and n8n. It also lists Waalaxy and Phantombuster among sales-automation partners. Duplicate detection and merging are part of the CRM offer.
Growth keeps everything in Starter and adds credit rollover, LinkedIn URL enrichment, job-title cleaning, AI job classification, company change detection, domain matching, and company data enrichment. Company change detection is the most useful addition for account-based teams, because it flags when a known contact moves employers.
Dropcontact does not connect to a LinkedIn account. Its help centre says it is not a LinkedIn scraping tool and that it finds LinkedIn URLs through its own algorithms. The same page suggests pairing it with a separate scraping tool if you want to build lists from LinkedIn.
That second step carries risk. LinkedIn's User Agreement prohibits using scrapers, bots, and browser add-ons to copy its services, and LinkedIn may restrict or terminate accounts that breach it. The exposure sits with the scraping tool you chain in front, not with Dropcontact itself, but you inherit it if you adopt the suggested workflow. Capterra reviewers also note that LinkedIn profile matches can be unreliable.
Dropcontact costs from โฌ29 a month for 500 credits on Starter, or โฌ24 a month on annual billing, and credits are consumed only when an email is found. Failed searches are re-credited automatically. New accounts get 50 free credits, which is enough to run a sample of your own list.
The Starter ladder runs from 500 credits at โฌ29 to 1,500 at โฌ59, 4,000 at โฌ79, and 11,000 at โฌ199, with a slider reaching 150,000 credits. Growth costs more at each step: โฌ35 for 500, โฌ72 for 1,500, โฌ120 for 4,000, and โฌ303 for 11,000. The page advertises up to 20% off annual billing; on the listed tiers the saving works out at roughly 16โ17%, for example โฌ66 instead of โฌ79 for 4,000 Starter credits. Enterprise starts at 200,000 credits a month with custom pricing, and we could not confirm whether the listed prices include VAT.
The maths favours volume. At 500 credits the price is roughly six cents per credit, while at 4,000 it falls to about two cents. A Capterra reviewer describes the pricing as not attractive for low usage, and we agree that light users get the weakest deal.
Starter fits teams that need verified emails and have no use for rollover. Growth makes sense once you want company change detection or LinkedIn URL enrichment, or if monthly volumes fluctuate and you want unused credits to carry over.
Dropcontact is a French company whose data processing agreement names four subprocessors with EU servers: AWS in Ireland, Scaleway and OVH in France, and IONOS in Germany. The agreement commits Dropcontact to destroying personal data within one month after the service ends and to making no transfer to third parties. Its own security overview says personal data is hosted on servers within the European Union. The two documents list different subprocessors, since the overview names only AWS, so ask for the current list during procurement.
Regulatory history adds context. The CNIL, France's data protection authority, shows two inspections of the company in 2019 in its open data. Dropcontact says the case (ref. 2019-168C) was closed on 6 November 2020 with no sanction and no formal notice. That outcome is favourable, but the vendor's phrasing that it is "audited" by the CNIL overstates a regulatory inspection, which is not a certification.
Dropcontact is also not ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certified, according to its own security overview. It relies on annual CASA validation and on the certificates of its infrastructure providers. Procurement teams that require a certificate for the vendor itself will not get one.
The agreement matters in one more way. It makes the customer the data controller and says the customer must define the legal basis and inform the data subjects. Using a privacy-first tool does not transfer your legitimate-interest assessment to the vendor.
If you already hold a list of names and companies and want verified emails with a clear privacy position, Dropcontact is a strong fit. Its pay-on-success model means you only pay for addresses it actually finds.
If you run HubSpot or Pipedrive and your CRM is full of duplicates and stale job titles, the CRM enrichment plan addresses a real maintenance problem. Compare it against the all-in-one options before committing.
If you need phone numbers, a searchable database, or sequencing, look elsewhere. Kaspr is a French alternative built around phone credits and a LinkedIn extension, while Findymail is another French email finder that leans on LinkedIn Sales Navigator workflows. If your priority is a very large database, our ZoomInfo alternatives, Lusha alternatives, and Apollo alternatives pages list the trade-offs.
Weighing Dropcontact against Snov.io's email finder comes down to scope. Snov.io bundles outreach tools, while Dropcontact stays an enrichment layer. See our Snov.io alternatives page for more options.

Dropcontact is a French company that designs its processing around GDPR and says it stores no contact database. The CNIL inspected it in 2019, and Dropcontact reports the case closed in November 2020 without sanction. Customers still own the legal basis and the duty to inform data subjects.
Dropcontact says it has no contact database and generates results in real time from a first name, last name, and company. Its help centre states it is not a LinkedIn scraping tool and requires no LinkedIn account, though it can return LinkedIn profile URLs.
The data processing agreement lists four subprocessors with EU servers: AWS in Ireland, Scaleway and OVH in France, and IONOS in Germany. Personal data is destroyed no later than one month after the service ends.
Credits start at 29 EUR a month for 500 on Starter (24 EUR billed annually) and 35 EUR on Growth. At 4,000 credits the monthly prices are 79 EUR and 120 EUR. New accounts get 50 free credits, and failed searches are re-credited.
Dropcontact only finds and enriches emails, while Snov.io adds outreach and Kaspr adds a LinkedIn extension with phone credits. Choose Dropcontact if you already have a prospect list and want verified emails without a stored database.
